PEACE CAMP 2025
The Peace Day Youth Assembly is an annual gathering that brings together youth, innovators, and changemakers from across the world to mark the UN’s International Day of Peace. Our mission is to inspire critical reflection, open dialogue, and bold visions for a future where technology and harmony with nature can thrive side by side. At the heart of the initiative is Youth Island – a historic naval fortress just off the coast of Copenhagen

This year’s theme invites us to explore how Quantum Science and emerging technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence, can help accelerate our collective journey toward a peaceful and thriving world.
In partnership with AIESEC and Klimatorium — Denmark’s center for climate action and innovation — we will host a 24-hour hackathon under the theme: Building Protopia.
24 young innovators will be invited to imagine the future in new ways and use AI tools to visualize how the world could become a better place — not through wishful thinking or fear, but by proactively prototyping a hopeful, inclusive, and sustainable future.

The winning team will be invited to present their vision at the Global Youth Climate Summit on October 6.
What is Protopia?
If we think of the future as a story we tell ourselves, two plotlines have come to dominate the popular imagination: on the one hand, a modernist fable of tech-fueled utopia; on the other, a postmodern myth of dystopian collapse.
Somewhere between these extremes lies a third possible path for the future: Protopia. Writer and futurist Kevin Kelly coined the term to describe a future based on steady progress — not a utopian dream, but a positive vision shaped by insights from world-class experts exploring long-term trends and emerging technologies that could converge in surprisingly synergistic ways.

In this video Kevin Kelly introduces the concept of Protopia. and explains why it's time for a return to optimism!

UNGDOMSØEN

Youth Island is an old naval fortress built in 1890 for the defense of Copenhagen City. During the Cold War, the fortress was armed with anti-aircraft missiles. Today, it serves as a unique platform where young people from all kinds of communities and youth cultures come together to create and share ideas and activities.
